Aaron Edward Eckhart is an American actor. He portrays Cary in the AMC+ animated drama, Pantheon.

Biography[]

In 1981, Eckhart's family relocated to the United Kingdom, where he attended American Community School and developed an interest in acting, starring in a school production as Charlie Brown. In 1985, he moved to Australia and attended American International School of Sydney to further develop his acting skills. During his senior year, Eckhart dropped out, only to later get his diploma through a professional education course. By 1988, Eckhart had returned to the United States and enrolled as a film major at Brigham Young University. He graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

After graduating, Eckhart moved to New York City and worked various jobs before landing his first role in 1992 as Dwayne in the TV film Double Jeopardy. In 1997, Eckhart was asked by friend and writer/director, Neil LaBute, to star in a film adaptation of LaBute's stage play In the Company of Men. It was for this performance that he won the Independent Spirit Award in the category of Best Debut Performance. And so, the following year, he starred in another LaBute film, Your Friends & Neighbors.

After starring in Steven Soderbergh's 2000 drama film Erin Brockovich, Eckhart co-starred with Renée Zellweger in LaBute's Nurse Betty, before joining Sean Penn's The Pledge. In 2002, he worked with LaBute again, for another film adaptation, for the novel Possession. After guest starring in two episodes of NBC's comedy sitcom Frasier, Eckhart's next big role was in the 2005 film Thank You for Smoking, received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. In 2008, Eckhart portrayed Harvey Dent/Two-Face in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight, which was the highest-grossing film of Eckhart's career. Some of his other credits include Towelhead, Love Happens, Battle: Los Angeles, The Rum Diary, and Olympus Has Fallen. He is also heavily featured in the Showtime drama The First Lady as Gerald Ford.
