Deep Scan is a method of converting (“uploading”) the human brain into a digital format, creating an identical clone in the Cloud while killing the original. It is a laser-based form of serial sectioning, in which the brain is peeled away layer by layer, scanned at high resolution while simultaneously being destroyed.
Process[]
Deep scan machines often take the form of a chair. Before the procedure, the future upload's head is shaved and, sometimes, the top of the skull is removed for access to the brain. Most of the time, subjects are sedated before the procedure.
The process involves a laser scanning of brain to record the subject's mind and memory. During this process, the brain is destroyed, leading to the subject dying physically and they live in the cloud.
Legality[]
At first, it was illegal for anyone to upload. However, after public outrage over their loved ones dying at the hands of Safesurf, uploading was made legal with twenty-one being the minimum age for the procedure. However, parents and guardians could give permission for those twenty and under to upload.
Only those with a clean record may upload, if anyone convicted of a felony successfully uploads, they will be deleted. Those who upload on the black market will be tagged as unregistered and put into stasis.
