Ken Liu is an American author. He is the creator behind the stories that Pantheon is based on and a consulting producer on the AMC+ animated drama.

Biography[]

Born in Lanzhou, China, Liu's family immigrated to the United States when he was 11 years old. He attended Harvard University, where he studied English Literature and Computer Science, receiving his A.B. in 1998. After graduating, he worked for Microsoft as a software engineer before joining a start-up in Massachusetts, eventually becoming a high-tech litigation consultant after previously working as a lawyer. By 2002, he was publishing fiction stories, with his first published work being Carthaginian Rose, a short story about consciousness uploading. He is best known for his "silkpunk" epic fantasy series The Dandelion Dynasty, and the first novel in the series, The Grace of Kings, was a 2016 Nebula Award finalist and winner of the 2016 Locus Award Best First Novel. The Apocalypse Triptych, which is a series of three anthologies of post-apocalyptic fiction, is what Pantheon is based on.
